Coach Mike Gill

I learned to lift because I had to. Junior high wrestling. Conditioning. That was the start of a 35 year relationship with iron that never really ended.

Bodybuilding. Powerlifting. Weightlifting. A 252 kilo total. Then I found the thing that fit: Strongman. I turned professional at 105 kilos. I retired from competition. I still train. It is lighter and it is smarter. I am not trying to be 28.

Coaching is the through line. I owned training facilities. I have been teaching people how to get strong for decades. My clients have lost thousands of pounds, put on an incredible amount of muscle, and become champions. I hold a certification in Sports Nutrition on top of the strength and conditioning work. I can give this information away in bulk because I love what I do. The change is the point.

I also call the big shows. Arnold World Championships. National Amateur Championships. World's Strongest Man Over 40. World's Strongest Woman. I have written for BarBend for years: programming, recovery, food, the mental side, training after 40. If you want the gym floor version of me, that is it. Direct. Specific. Keep a rep in the bag. Sleep. Do the work.

Through trial and error, hard work, and determination, an average guy from Buffalo, NY is living his dream life now in a beach town in Florida. I am building my retirement retreat in the North Carolina mountains, by hand, with my wife Joy.

I am President of Modern Genetix. Midlife Resurgence is the show. Listen, read, train, eat. The company builds the highest quality product I can stand behind, to support hard work and a desire to improve. It does not replace either one.

I am a coach. That is the job.

Yours in health
